About Jon Cook

I’m Jon Cook, a freelance web developer based in Colchester, Essex. For over 20 years I’ve been building bespoke online software for businesses and organisations – web applications, CRM systems and online databases – as well as custom websites, WordPress websites and online shops.

What I do

Most of my work is building and looking after the systems that businesses run on. One of them, the online application behind a well known national weight loss company, I have built and maintained single-handedly for over 20 years. Others include the online application that runs Top Job Recruitment here in Colchester, a CRM for Chief Industries UK, online ticketing for Frinton Summer Theatre and online catalogues for the Britten-Pears Foundation.

I also work behind the scenes for design agencies and IT companies, delivering websites, online applications, CRM systems and HTML emails for their clients. See who I work with.

How I work

I discuss your requirements in plain English, write clear specifications and documentation, and build systems that are secure and easy to add to as your business changes. When a project goes live I don’t disappear: some of my clients have worked with me for many years. I also use AI in web development where it saves my clients time and money.

Skills

Based in Colchester

I work with businesses across Colchester, Essex and Suffolk, and with clients all over the UK. Away from the keyboard I’m a musician, and have played Colchester’s Tin Pan Alley Bar, one of the local businesses I’ve built a website for.
