Guitar To Leslie Speaker Interface
I managed to pick up an early 70’s Leslie 760 from a local secondhand shop a few months back but had given up finding a Leslie pre amp at a reasonable price. They were made by Leslie in the 70’s specifically to interface non-organ instruments with their rotary speakers but seem to be very rare and appropriately expensive when/if you do find one.
I discussed this with Dennis Brown at Electro Music Services, Ipswich (www.electromusicservices.co.uk) a few weeks ago and was very pleased when he offered to make me a similar interface from scratch. I just received my spanking new magic black box (pictured) along with a thorough service for the long neglected Leslie cabinet and have realised an ambition of mine to play guitar through a real rotary speaker! Next step is to gig / record with it…
Here’s a short video I made demoing the interface and Leslie rotary speaker cabinet and if you need anything musical custom built, repaired, serviced or restored – give Dennis a call, highly recommended!
